Not Your Everyday Storefronts

One can see the coffins in the back.  Maybe many of you have seen such shops before, in regular shopping areas, but I had not until this pause in Kuala Lumpur.

This was a wholesale store selling the cutsy Hello Kitty schlock, and all things girly and glittery. I love looking at the merchandise in these kinds of stores.  But what made this store special was the name of the store, or company, I am not sure what. It epitomises this whole genre of shlock.  If it wasn't such a drag to send things back home or pack them in luggage, I would have bought myself a few more Hello Kitty pillows to add to my collection.  They provide a nice contrast to my normally minimalist tendencies in my 1950s furniture theme back home.

Hi,
You can see a similar one in Chennai on Anna Salai opposite the Thousand Lights Mosque. The shop is J Fenn & Co and they have been around for over a century. You may not be able to see coffins but the shop board prominently lists the services they offer.
